Richard Durrant is a consultant at Boys & Maughan and the former head of our conveyancing department.

A Chartered Legal Executive, Richard joined the firm in 2006, became a partner in 2009, and progressed to equity partner in 2012. He has been involved in conveyancing since 2000, having previously spent a decade working in estate agency.

After 18 years of exceptional service, Richard stepped down from his full-time role in December 2024. He now continues to support our firm as a part-time consultant, providing guidance to colleagues and helping us to develop and maintain relationships with other property professionals.

During Richard’s leadership from 2017 to 2022, our conveyancing team achieved outstanding success, winning 25 national ESTAS Conveyancing Awards. These accolades include Best Solicitors in Kent and Best Firm with Two to Five Offices nationwide. Richard was also recognised personally, being named runner-up for Best Conveyancer at the Estate Agency of the Year Awards in December 2013, presented in association with The Times and The Sunday Times.

In December 2024 Richard stepped away from his legal career to embrace coaching, through a role in the Kent Women’s cricket team and the Girls Pathway at Kent, reflecting his commitment to sports and mentorship, an area he has been passionate about for many years.
