Richard Durrant set to leave Boys & Maughan Solicitors to pursue passion for coaching cricket

In a surprising yet exciting turn of events, Richard Durrant, head of Boys & Maughan’s conveyancing team, has announced his departure from the firm to pursue his lifelong passion for coaching cricket. After 18 years of dedicated service, Richard will be leaving this Christmas but will return in the new year in a part-time consultancy role, ensuring a smooth transition for clients and colleagues alike.

Richard has been an integral part of Boys & Maughan, building a reputation for exceptional conveyancing services and fostering strong relationships with clients and property industry professionals. His decision to step away from his legal career to embrace coaching, through a role in the Kent Women’s cricket team and the Girls Pathway at Kent, reflects his commitment to sports and mentorship, an area he has been passionate about for many years.

"I am incredibly excited about this new chapter in my life," Richard said. "Coaching cricket is a chance for me to combine my love for the sport with my desire to help others develop their skills and confidence."

Taking the reins from Richard is Stephanie Power, who as Head of the Commercial Team has for many years supported Richard in running the residential department and is well-equipped to continue to lead the property department as a whole. With a wealth of experience and expertise in the field, Stephanie reassures clients and estate agents of continuity and commitment to excellence. "Richard has set a high standard for our team, and I am determined to develop further on that legacy," Stephanie stated. "I look forward to continuing our strong client and industry relationships and with the support of an incredibly strong team of property specialists, delivering on service."

Andrew Baker, Senior Partner at Boys & Maughan, expressed his heartfelt wishes for Richard’s future endeavours. "Richard has made a significant impact on our firm and the conveyancing sector as a whole. His dedication to his clients and colleagues has left an indelible mark, and we are grateful for his many contributions.  He has trained many of our current conveyancing specialists and supported them with their development, often through to qualification as a Solicitor, Charted Legal Executive or as a Licenced Conveyancer." Andrew emphasised Richard's legacy, highlighting his ability to cultivate a collaborative environment within the team and his commitment to client satisfaction. "While we will miss his leadership, we are excited for what the future holds for him in coaching."

Richard’s announcement has been met with warmth and well-wishes from colleagues. Many have expressed gratitude for his unwavering support and professionalism throughout the years. As he prepares to transition to this new role, Richard wishes to extend his heartfelt thanks to his team for their support and camaraderie. "I couldn’t have achieved this without the incredible team at Boys & Maughan. Your dedication and hard work have inspired me every day. I am proud of what we have accomplished together."

Looking ahead, Richard envisages a future where he can make a meaningful difference in the world of women’s cricket, helping young athletes realise their potential. "Coaching is about empowerment, and I am eager to contribute to the growth of the sport. It’s a thrilling opportunity, and I can’t wait to get started."

As Boys & Maughan prepares for this transition, the firm remains committed to providing outstanding conveyancing services under Stephanie’s leadership, ensuring that clients, estate agents and other professionals continue to receive the high level of support they have come to expect. With Richard’s ongoing consultancy role in the new year, our team is poised to navigate this change with confidence and enthusiasm.
